Fair Housing Act
The Fair Housing Act (FHA) was passed as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, P.L. 90-284. It is the basis for HUD's enforcement of anti-discrimination law in the area of housing.
Note that the FHA is not the only statute which impacts HUD. Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination in any federally-assisted program.
