Publishing for Legal Scholars

A guide to publishing for legal scholars

NUSL Law Library Services for Publishing

The law library can provide such services as:

  • Recommendations on journals for submitting your article
  • Advice on preparing your submission
  • Submitting your article to SSRN and Northeastern's Institutional Repository

The law library covers the costs of submissions for faculty members on both ExpressO and Scholastica. For students, the law library will subsidize the cost of submitting to fifty law reviews via ExpressO.

Law Review vs. Law Journal

For the purposes of this guide, law "review" and law "journal will be used interchangeably. It is common for a law school's general-subject publication to be called a "review" and for subject-specific publications to be "journals," but that is not universally true.
